Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
Amalgamation Theatre Collective is dedicated to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion within our company.
Our primary mission, “Everyone fits into the Amalgamation” embodies the goals we intend to uphold as a collective. We believe that the theatre is a place where everyone should feel included. As a collective, we strive to provide a safe and comfortable space for anyone and everyone.
Our company is committed to the inclusion of members from various communities (including but not limited to): LGBTQ+, BIPOC, AAPI, Latine, veterans, individuals who have disabilities, and any underrepresented individuals regarding gender, sex, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status.
Some ways we uphold these values include:
Pay What You Will Performances: Our productions will include a performance where individuals can pay what they will for their tickets. This is intended to provide access to a theatrical experience for people of any socioeconomic status who would like to see our shows.
Media Accessibility: Our website uses colors that are checked against W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). This ensures that any text written over background colors meets a minimum contrast ratio making it easier to read.
Seat Accessibility/Theatre Access: As a company without a permanent home, venue accessibility will vary from production to production. Our company will aim to make our venues as physically accessible as possible. While we cannot make every space fully accessible, we will make sure to note any accessibility concerns for various venues in our ticketing process and/or advertising materials.
Livestreaming: Because we are a mobile company, we aim to provide livestreamed performances. Through livestreaming, we hope to offer audiences all over the world the opportunity to see our work despite any challenges that in-person viewing presents.
No Cost Productions: There will never be fees to participate in an Amalgamation production. It is important to us that any artist can find their place in the Amalgamation, regardless of their socioeconomic status.
We understand that merely stating our intentions is not enough. As a company, we will continue to listen and grow depending on ideas and/or contributions from our members. We will continue to listen and learn. We will continue to implement new EDI values.
